The beginning of a new year is an opportunity to refresh and renew for many of us. If you are anything like me, this time of year is all about getting back on track with health & fitness as well as setting goals to level up my business.

Why not apply the same approach to your home? Your physical environment can impact productivity, motivation, and creativity, so it’s worth investing a little bit of time and energy to refreshing your home.

To help get you started, I’ve gathered five of my favourite ways to easily refresh your home and get you on track for a successful 2023.

1 | Paint it Black

Or any other colour that sparks your creativity! Giving your space a couple of coats of paint is one of the easiest way to make a significant impact. For a little inspiration, Benjamin Moore has shared their most digitally sampled paint colours in 2022. Prefer to look forward? Take your cue from their 2023 Color Trends.

2 | Liven Things Up

Add some live plants into your space. Not only will this add color and texture, having plants indoors also offers a variety of health benefits. Studies have shown that house plants can boost your mood and your immune system. Have a black thumb or a room lacking natural light? No problem! With a little hunting you can find some very realistic looking faux pants and stems.

3 | Treat Your Walls

Nothing adds texture and interest to a wall or door like mouldings. Whether painted or stained we are seeing fluting, wood slats, and shiplap turning up on surfaces all throughout the home. If you are handy this could be a weekend DIY!

4 | Hello Cushions!

One of my favourite ways to add texture, colour and pattern to a space is to layer in cushions. They can be swapped out seasonally for a fresh new look as the weather changes. Consider lighter beachy tones in the summer and heavier chunky textures in the winter. The newest cushion addition to my family room rotation is one of the hottest trends right now - Bouclé!

5 | Not Your Granny’s Wallpaper!

Wallpaper is another great option for adding colour and pattern to a space. Don’t worry, wallpaper technology has come a long way, so if you decide to change it out in a few years you can easily do so! From graphic to pretty to whimsical, there’s something for everyone.
